"Community Association"  (BPCIA)
Formally known as the "Briar Park Community Improvement Association," this group of elected/volunteers, who are called "Directors" or "Board Members," oversees the operation of our community.  Board duties include, budgeting disbursement of the funds collected (our annual Maintenance Fees), signing contracts for management, security, lawn maintenance, pool maintenance and lifeguards, enforcing Deed Restrictions and a most important function - the Architectural Control Committee (ACC).  Permission for ALL visible improvements must be obtained from the ACC before any work begins, even when re-painting with the same color paint.  Houston has no zoning ordinances, therefore Deed Restrictions and the ACC are necessary.  The purpose of Deed Restriction enforcement and of the ACC is to protect our property values by maintaining a standard of appearance for all the homes in BV.  See the Deed Restriction and ACC sections for details.

The BPCIA meets on the 4th Thursday of nearly every month at 8:00 p.m., in the BV Clubhouse.  All residents are welcome to attend and participate in the efficient, but informal meetings, which last about an hour.  Attire is casual.  Regular meeting attendance is the best way to learn about what is happening in the place you call home.  See the Board of Directors section for details and the BV Monthly Newsletter for Meeting dates.  Meetings are also advertised on special sign posts at each BV entrance and the Website Message Board.

Welcome To Briar Village!
The Welcome Team calls on those new to Briar Village, by request.  If you are new to the neighborhood and would like to be visited, please contact our management company, RealManage at 281-493-5400, and tell them you want to be visited by our Welcome Team.

The Welcome Team has a very informative Welcome packet for you and can answer your questions about living in BV.

Seasonal Events
Homes in Briar Village were first occupied in the late 1960s.  Since that time several events have become traditions for our community.  These include:

  • 4th of July Parade - usually led by a real Fire Truck!  Our children decorate their bikes, wagons, scooters, themselves and they and their parents march a short parade route through the "Village."

  • Easter Egg Hunt - held on the grounds near the Clubhouse, it is organized by the Mom's Club and is fun for all ages.

  • Spring Fling - usually held on a weekend in May after the pool opens.  It is a day of games, contests, races and other fun activities for children of all ages.  Proceeds of the refreshment stand go to support our BV Swim Team - The Briar Flyers.

Tennis Courts
The Tennis Courts are open year-round.  You must purchase a "court key" to have access.  See the Tennis Court section for details.

Swimming Pool
The Pool is open weekends in May and September and all week in June, July and August, until school starts.  The Pool is closed for maintenance on Mondays or the day after a Monday holiday.  A purchased "pool tag" is required for admittance for Briar Village residents and their guests.  Certified Life Guards are on duty whenever the pool is open.  Age-group-specific Pool Parties are sometimes held on Wednesday evenings in June and July.  See the Pool section for details and the Pictures section for various activites at the Pool.

Clubhouse
The Clubhouse is used for community meetings such as the monthly Community Association Meetings and Garden Club Meetings; it has been used for scouting meetings, play groups and slumber parties too!  It is available for rent to BV residents for private meetings, receptions and parties.  It is equipped with a full kitchen, restrooms, lounge furniture and tables and chairs; adequate parking is also available.  Of course, there are some limitations, but when decorated for a special event, it is very attractive.  The rent is nominal and there is a security deposit that is refundable after the post-event inspection verifies that things were left ship-shape.  See the Downloads section - Clubhouse Agreement for details.

Swim Team  - The Briar Flyers
All BV children, ages 6 through 18 years are welcome to participate - no prior experience required!  Practices start in May each year and Swim Meets with nearby communities are scheduled for late May and June.  Children are awarded ribbons and trophies for participation, friends are made and so are lifelong memories.  "Swim Team" has been an important activity for BV children (and parent volunteers) for over 3 decades.  See the Swim Team section for details and the Pictures section for photographs of Swim Team Practice and Meets.

Yard of the Month (YOTM)
Each month (Mar - Dec) a home is selected for this honor based on the merits of good maintenance, design, seasonal color and an overall appearance that supports the standards set for our community by our Deed Restrictions.  Many homes are given Honorable Mention each month too.  In December, YOTM selections are based on Holiday Decorations.  See the Yard of the Month section for photographs of winners and holiday decorations.

Briar Village Newsletter
The BV Newsletter is published monthly (except in January) and is sent via 4th class mail to every home in Briar Village.  Watch for it in your mailbox the first week of each month.  If you do not receive your Newsletter in a timely manner, please contact the Board Director for the Newsletter.  See the Board of Directors section of this website for the contact information.

Our Newsletter is a great source for information about community news, events and our support services, such as security and garbage pick up.  BV residents are encouraged to contribute articles (see the Newsletter for requirements) or short editorials of a suitable nature.  Paid advertising from a wide range of business services is invited.  See the Newsletter section for past issues.

Mom's Club
The Briar Village Mom's Club tries to meet monthly.  If you have children or are expecting, you are invited to join.  Mom's Club is always looking for new members.   It is a casual group that enjoys getting together to share ideas, problems and play dates.  The Moms do lots of other things too, call or show up at one of the meetings and see what it is all about!  See the Mom's Club section for details.

Garden Club
Meets Monthly -  Everyone is invited!  See the Garden Club section for details.
Check the BV Calendar section for Meeting Dates.

Briar Village Community Garage Sale and Garden Club Plant Sale
Held in the fall and spring, check the Briar Village Calendar for the date of the next Community Garage and Garden Club Plant Sale.

Club 55
Club 55 is always interested in new members and having meetings of current members on a regular basis.  Among the events being discussed are:  card games, pot luck suppers, movie nights, race track trips, dining out close by.  If you live in Briar Village, are 50+ and would be interested in participating in some of these events or better yet, helping organize, please contact a Board Director.

Game Night - Cards/Dominoes/Board Games at the Clubhouse

Scrapbooking Club
Let us show you how to preserve your memories!  We want you!  Have you started organizing your photographs?  Let us help you get started.  We love what we do and want to pass on our hobby.  We try to meet once a month at the clubhouse to have some fun and work on our family albums.
